Dynamic Range Majority Data Structures
Given a set P of n coloured points on the real line, we study the problem of answering range α-majority (or “heavy hitter”) queries on P . More specifically, for a query range Q, we want to return each colour that is assigned to more than an α-fraction of the points contained in Q. We present a new data structure for answering range α-majority queries on a dynamic set of points, where α ∈ (0, 1...
متن کاملSpace Efficient Data Structures for Dynamic Orthogonal Range Counting
We present a linear-space data structure that maintains a dynamic set of n points with coordinates of real numbers on the plane to support orthogonal range counting, as well as insertions and deletions, in O(( lgn lg lgn )) time. This provides faster support for updates than previous results with the same bounds on space cost and query time. We also obtain two other new results by considering t...
متن کاملDynamic Data Structures: Orthogonal Range Queries and Update Efficiency
English) We study dynamic data structures for different variants of orthogonal range reporting query problems. In particular, we consider (1) the planar orthogonal 3-sided range reporting problem: given a set of points in the plane, report the points that lie within a given 3-sided rectangle with one unbounded side, (2) the planar orthogonal range maxima reporting problem: given a set of points...
متن کاملSuccinct Dynamic Data Structures
We develop succinct data structures to represent (i) a sequence of values to support partial sum and select queries and update (changing values) and (ii) a dynamic array consisting of a sequence of elements which supports insertion, deletion and access of an element at any given index. For the partial sums problem on n non-negative integers of k bits each, we support update operations in O(b) t...
متن کاملEncodings for Range Majority Queries
We face the problem of designing a data structure that can report the majority within any range of an array A[1, n], without storing A. We show that Ω(n) bits are necessary for such a data structure, and design a structure using O(n log∗ n) bits that answers majority queries in O(logn) time. We extend our results to τ -majorities.
